The Vermilion Township Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, December 27, for the annual end of year meeting. This meeting provides the opportunity to make all needed resolutions going into the New Year.
Snow plow operators: The trustees passed a motion to amend Resolution 54-17 the appointment of Mr. Dave Schmidt, Mr. Jason Zsebik, Mr. David Wilken and Mr. Howard Hillen as temporary help\part-time snow plow operators for the Road Department to correct the wage per/hour from $15.00 per hour to $16.00 per hour.
Auction: A motion was passed for the purpose of expressing Board’s intent to conduct an internet auction (GovDeals.com) for the sale of unneeded, obsolete or unfit township personal property in Calendar Year 2018. The Property shall be made available to the public on GovDeals.com website for a minimum of ten (10) days, including Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays as required in R.C. 505.10 (D). The Township Secretary will publish in the legal section of the Vermilion Photojournal and simultaneously on the Vermilion Township website (www.vermiliontownship.com). the “Legal Notice of Intent to Dispose of Surplus Personal Property by Internet Auction” for the Calendar Year 2018. The notice will be continually posted throughout the year 2018 on the Bulletin Board in the Vermilion Township Office Building located at 1907 State Road, Vermilion, Ohio.
Clean-up days: Trustees also voted to designate the second weekend in May (Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12) as the Annual 2018 Spring Clean-Up and the second Saturday in September (Saturday, September 8) as the Annual 2018 Fall Clean-Up.
Appointments: the following appointments were made by the trustees during the meeting. Mr. Robert Kurtz was appointed Vermilion Township’s Representative on the Geographic Information System (GIS) Committee. Mr. Charles T. Trinter was appointed chairman of the board of trustees. Trinter was also appointed delegate to the Erie County Regional Planning Commission, and alternate to Council of Governments. Mr. Ronald L. Dickel was appointed as an alternate delegate to the Erie County Regional Planning Commission, and Mr. Christopher R. Decker was appointed delegate to Council of Governments.
Mrs. Laraine Bailey was appointed Vermilion Township Board of Zoning Appeals and Zoning Commission Secretary. Mrs. Tina L. Karres as Vermilion Township Secretary. Mr. Robert Kurtz as Vermilion Township Building Official/Zoning Administrator and Township Administrator. Frank Triana as the part-time Fire Chief of Vermilion Township Mr. Steve Young was appointed as Road Department/Foreman. Mr. Tom Lalonde was appointed to the road department. Mrs. Terry Saunders and Mrs. Michelle Schmalz were appointed as janitors of the Township Offices.
Authorizations: to pay sixteen dollars ($16.00) per hour to temporary snow plow operators for the Road Department and pay ten dollars ($10.00) per hour to temporary help for the Road Department for 2018. Fiscal Officer of Vermilion Township to incur expenses up to $1,000.00 per month on behalf of the Township without receiving Board approval. authorizing the Building Official/Zoning Administrator of Vermilion Township to incur expenses up to $1,000.00 per month on behalf of the Township without receiving Board approval. authorizing the Vermilion Township Fire Chief, Frank Triana, to incur expenses on behalf of the Vermilion Township Fire Department up to $2,500.00 per purchase and/or repairs without Board approval. to pay thirty dollars ($30.00) per meeting to the Chairman and twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per meeting to the members of the Zoning Boards (Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals) for 2018.
Future meetings: The trustees also voted to hold the 2018 Trustee’s meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. and the third Wednesday of the month at 8:00 a.m. and pay the Trustees on a monthly basis. If needed, a work session will follow after any regular meeting of the Board.
