Memorial Day parades and ceremonies

The Brownhelm Historical Association (BHA) will also gather for the annual parade on Sunday, May 28, at 1:30 p.m. at South Claus and North Ridge Roads to march to Brownhelm Cemetery.  The group invites anyone with an old tractor, vintage car or truck for the smallest parade in the area!  Area Scouts, Little League, 4H, etc. are invited to join us for this special day to remember our veterans.  Join the BHA members as they ride on the hay wagon for the short ride down North Ridge Road.

The Memorial Service will begin at 2 p.m. when the Amherst American Legion Post 118 conducts the ceremony as we pay tribute to all military service members. Please bring a lawn chair and umbrella, in case of rain.

At 3:15 p.m. we will honor a Revolutionary War soldier, Bildad Belden at Brown’s Lake Road Cemetery with the Vermilion Veterans Council.

Then at 4 p.m., the BHA will be at Rugby Cemetery with Tom Jenkins, leader of the ROTC group from Elyria to pay tribute to the veterans buried there.  This will be the first time that the association will hold a service at this Brownhelm Township cemetery.

Call Ed or Marilyn Brill at 988-4550 or Eric Rivet 518-258- 8469 if you have any questions for this schedule of events.
